After receiving her DVM in 2006, Dr. Kandi Norrell worked in emergency and
critical care services at the Sarasota Veterinary Emergency Hospital.
Dr. Norrell oversees the primary care clinical services at the
Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She is currently pursuing ABVP (American
Board of Veterinary Practitioners) board certification.
Though she loves all dogs and cats, Dr. Norrell has a a
strong interest in feline medicine and feline-friendly handling and nursing
care, as well as an interest and working knowledge of sighthounds
(greyhounds).
Dr. Norrell's involvement in the veterinary profession includes chairing the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association's public relations committee, serving on the American Veterinary Medical Association's Committee for the Partnership of Preventative Pet Care Initiative, and serving as faculty sponsor for the American Animal Hospital Association's student chapter. Recently recognized as an emerging leader by the AVMA, Dr. Norrell is also the President-Elect of the Eastern Illinois Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Norrell's primary care service at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital employs a low-stress philosophy, which seeks to make you and your pet as comfortable as possible during your visits.
